JSAT has established an earth station at Kapolei on
Oahu Island, Hawaii. This station links the JCSAT-2A satellite,
U.S. satellites and submarine cables. The Kapolei Earth Station
is enabling JSAT to offer more telecommunications services.
New services include end-to-end transmission services for
ISPs that cover all of the U.S. mainland and the Asian region.
Located on Oahu Island's leeward coast, the city of Kapolei
was master-planned by the Hawaii state government under its
e-City initiative. This community is fast emerging as the
gateway to Asia for U.S. telecommunications firms. Kapolei
benefits from proximity to both Honolulu in central Oahu and
the landing site of major submarine cables, and is set to
gain even more attention in the years ahead.
